“Eu saí de uma turnê e ouvi seu primeiro disco [Slipknot (10th Anniversary Edition CD / DVD)]. Ross Robinson me deu em 1999. Ele disse: ‘Ouça isso. “Eu ouvi Slipknot após o OZZfest 1999, quando eles eram um grande zumbido na outro palco. Eu nunca estive lá a tempo de vê-los. Após essa turnê, eu comprei um álbum. Eu escutei a primeira música e eu era como, ‘nossa, essa música é impressionante “. Eu cheguei à música três e disse: “fantástica essa música também!”. Não quero dizer que vocês se sobressaíram e ficaram mais velhos e não tão louco mais. Se algo, como a brutalidade é ainda mais focada, o torna ainda mais perigoso de um jeito. É como se eles passassem de uma po** de uma metralhadora para agora serem um sabre de luz do cara***. Eles são ainda mais perigosos. Foi incrível! Assistir Slipknot me fez lembrar do antigo comercial da Samsonite onde eles colocam uma mala em uma gaiola com um gorila, e ele se bate tanto que quase morre. Esse é o Slipknot no palco!”.

“Antes de eu realmente ouvir a música deles, eu vi uma foto. Toda vez que você vê as máscaras, eles estão atacando. Você sabe que você está procurando isso. Isso me levou a investigar, experimentar, e ouvi-los. Não há ninguém como o Slipknot. Fiquei sem fôlego ao vê-los no palco[risos]. Nós estávamos na Austrália, com eles, e fiquei certo de ir assisti-los todas as noites, porque era muito divertido. Meus favoritos seriam os dois primeiros álbuns. Eles são assassinos”.

The impact that has on Slipknot heavy music remains undeniable, then ARTISTdirect.com editor in chief, Rick Florino spoke with some musicians about the first time they heard Slipknot and how they became fans:
When was the first time you saw or heard Slipknot and what made you become a fan?
James "Munky" Shaffer of Korn, Fear and The Nervous System
"I got a tour and heard his first record [Slipknot (10th Anniversary Edition CD / DVD)]. Ross Robinson gave me in 1999. He said, 'Listen to this. It will change your life. "I could not believe some of the riffs I was hearing. This level of intensity and anger was something I always wanted to do my own band. We did a European festival with them, and remember them walking backstage with their masks. They were super intimidating, even though they are just normal guys [laughs]. Paul Gray was probably one of the nicest people and down to earth. I am not able to say enough good things about this guy. Having a producer Ross Robinson at the beginning, we all come from the same family as well as similar ideas about music. It is unmentionable, but we had some sort of connection because of it. When Joey Jordison was playing with us, he brought a completely different feel. Actually, Clint Lowery [Sevendust] was playing with us at the moment, making guitars in the background. He raised the issue that maybe Joey was available and I thought it was the coolest thing. We found that he was under the ring. There could be some video of me freaking out and saying, 'Yes, I can not believe it! "[Laughs] The first time he came and played with us, there was a lot of emotion, especially after the ups and downs we had. I love Iowa. There is something raw and real about this record. People can take a lesson from that album. This album is my favorite. Everything about that album is amazing. It has all the elements that make a metal album. What do these guys think, its processes and dedication shines there in Iowa. We'd love to be on tour with them! A boy can only dream [laughs]. '

Kerry King of Slayer
"I heard Slipknot after Ozzfest 1999, when they were a big buzz in another stage. I've never been there in time to see them. After this tour, I bought an album. I listened to the first song and I was like, 'Wow, this song is amazing. " I got the song three and said: "this song also fantastic." At the time I was at number five, I thought, 'These guys are good' [laughs]. Shortly thereafter, I saw them at The Glass House in Pomona. It was scary. They were very scary at the time. It was scarier than shtick-y. I have to say that the first album is my favorite. It had the vibe. I've said it a million times: "You have your whole life to write your first album. The next, you have to do in 18 or 24 months [laughs]. We probably did what people consider the best record three albums. For Judas Priest, was the fifth of them. I remember coming out of Iowa, or had an advance copy, or fuck it ... We were on tour with Extreme Steel Panther. The security of Pantera and I could enjoy in 'The Heretic Anthem' during the night the entire tour - and more and more! The liquor was flowing as you can imagine, and this was the reason for the party after the show night after night. By the way, I'm 666. "
Rob Zombie
"The first time I had been aware of them at Ozzfest. They were in the second stage and we were on the main stage. It was in 1999 with Black Sabbath. I have not seen them yet. I always saw these guys walking later, without their masks, and they had that black stuff around your eyes. I was like, "What's po ** with these guys?" [Laughs] "I've never seen the show! For some reason, I could never get to the stage. His live show is phenomenal. Joey was in our banda on many tours, so I feel like I've gone on tour with Slipknot, but I never really went on tour with them [laughs]. I just had some of the band Slipknot. This would be a great tour. '
Scott Ian of Anthrax
"The first time I saw them was when we played with them. It was December 1999. They had not exploded yet. We did a radio show together at a club in Boston. It was a 1500-seat club. I obviously heard them before, but it was my first time I saw them. Being with them backstage before the show, they were ready, it was quite impressive. The energy was amazing. Check them out first and see po ** chaos, I was like, "This is a crazy f ***! It was difficult to understand at first. The first 30 minutes of this show, there was so much going on. However, it was a small stage. There were nine guys, and each guy was more brutal than the other. It was complete chaos, and I loved it. The other day, I said it to Corey. I watched the show in Mountain View and I have not seen them for a few years. It has been that way since I saw them play. There is maturity in the band now. For fullness. I do not mean that you have excelled and were older and not so crazy anymore. If anything, as the brutality is even more focused, makes it even more dangerous in a way. It's as if they passed a po ** a machine gun to now be a lightsaber guy's ***. They are even more dangerous. It was amazing! Watch Slipknot reminded me of the old Samsonite commercial where they put a suitcase in a cage with a gorilla, and he beats so that almost dies. This is Slipknot onstage. "
Darren Lynn Bousman [director of Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, The Devil's Carnival]
"Before I actually listen to their music, I saw a picture. Whenever you see the masks, they are attacking. You know you're looking for that. This led me to investigate, try, and hear them. There's nobody like Slipknot. I was breathless when I saw them on stage [laughs]. I do not understand how they can have that kind of energy night after night. It's exhausting to watch. "
Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit & Black Light Burns
"The first time I saw them was on stage beside some festival. We left together and it was just insane. I never get tired of watching them. We were in Australia with them, and I was right to go watch them every night, because it was so much fun. My favorites are the first two albums. They are murderers. "
